Chiltern Prostate Cancer Support Group

About Us

CPCSG was established in 2005 on the initiative of the Urology surgical and nursing staff at Wycombe Hospital and Stoke Mandeville Hospital. Close links with the clinicians are an essential part of our structure, the clinicians play an active part in our organisation, always ensuring that patient confidentiality is maintained.

The CPCSG organisation is:

Officers: Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Hon Secretary, Hon Treasurer

Executive Committee: The Committee, comprising the Officers and local area Members elected annually, meets every 2 months to implement the programme of events and to receive feedback on progress from its Area Representatives.

Management Committee: The Committee, comprising the Officers and co-opted members meets as necessary to plan forthcoming programmes of meetings and events.

‘Open’ or Members' Meetings: Members' meetings are held twice annually in April and in the Autumn. The April meeting is also the Annual General Meeting when the Officers are elected for the forthcoming year. Meetings, which are publicised and open to the general public, are normally addressed by a guest speaker on topics of interest and relevance. Recent topics have included:

  • Diet and Nutrition
  • Erectile Dysfunction
  • Laparascopic Procedures
  • Radiotherapy Treatments
  • The Prostate Cancer Charity

Since its establishment CPCSG has been an active participant in the National Prostate Cancer Awareness week organised annually by the Prostate Cancer Charity in March. It has provided information stands in the principal shopping areas in High Wycombe and Aylesbury. It has also had and continues to take stands at local events.

In order to increase public awareness of prostate cancer and its services CPCSG provides guest speakers to men’s and women’s clubs (e.g. Rotary) and to medical practitioners study days. If you would be interested in a presentation for your organisation please contact the Chairman.
